PM Reflection
Presenter: Martha Corkery
I have traveled a crooked path to being a spiritual director and guide in the Spiritual Exercises. My first career I was a teacher, then became an administrator, earned my doctorate in educational administration, and then worked as a program coordinator for an online graduate education program. was then called to pursue a Master’s degree in theology. During those times I became very involved in parish work, eventually becoming a Pastoral Life Coordinator for All Saints Parish in Brunswick. I then earned a certificate in spiritual direction from Loyola University- Chicago, experienced the spiritual exercises with the Manresa Way ministry, and trained with the Pneuma Institute of Pennsylvania in giving the Spiritual Exercises. I continue in my role as Pastoral Life Coordinator and see individuals for spiritual direction and lead them through the Exercise as well.
Session 8 Personal Sin and Triple Colloquy
THEME: Discovering the hidden compulsions, urges and/or tendencies that affect my life and the decisions I make.
DESIRE: With continuing sorrow, I seek a growing awareness of the hidden disordered tendencies of my life; in confidence and trust I desire the freeing action of Jesus.
TEASER: What is intercessory prayer? Why do some people pray to saints in addition to praying to God? The Triple Colloquy provides us with an opportunity to pray to saints to pray with us and for us as we raise ourselves and our concerns to God.
